The Wheel of Time

The Wheel of Time is a blessed series of books written by Robert Jordan. These books, there is now eight of them, has spurred role playing across the world. People on the internet now "pretend" they are like a character in that time period. I am one of them...a novice as they call it. This is my story.

My bio!
I, Ellisande Rahien, was born on October 4th, 1982 to Chasline Rahien. I grew up with my mother in Sharas palace. My father was an unknown Male. Chasline was one of the Ayyad that the Shboan surrounded herself with. My older sister was meant to take her place after she deceased, so I spent a lot of time with a friend of the family, Jacob, in the gardens. The Shboan kept beautiful gardens that was kept up with the power year long. Jacob was a merchant; it was more of a hobby than anything else. He was supposed to work, but he didnt need the money. Sometimes I would go up to the docks with him and stare at the peculiar way the Sea Folk decorated their noses. They dressed similar to us, with the breaches on women and all, but I never did understand why they would go through such pains to hang ornaments from their noses. Jacob would used to try and explain the medallions hanging off of them. He said that they were by rank, and I, being a small child without much comprehension of culture differences, tried to make my own nose chain of high rank. I believed I had deserved it, but one of the Athaan Miere had laughed and explained to me that I had to be one of them. I wasnt too sure if my mother was more mad at me or my guardian, Jacob. That was the good days.
When I was about eight or so, something changed the world of the Sharans. It was the year that the Shboan died prematurely. She had only reigned for five years when she was supposed to reign for seven. The Shbotay took over soon after; hence enhancing suspicion in the villages. They knew that she had upset the Creator, since he had ended her life short. These thoughts started to make things worse and worse with people calling other people liars. It turned into a war. It was simply called the War of Words. Sharans were threatening and bragging every which way. Jacob soon became caught up with it. He claimed things about his status with the new Shboan, the Shbotay had recently picked a new wife, and things that his daughters had done. I happened to be at the docks with him one evening with a couple of friends of mine from the palace. We ran into my father at a gambling table on one of the ships. The men he was playing with were strange. They made rude remarks about my friends breeches. I was the only one wearing a dress. The captain of the ship, his name I still dont know today, declared that since I was dressed decently that I was kidnapped. My friends and Jacob went ballistic. Jacob showed proof that I was Ayyad by my temporary markings. I was too young to get the permanent ones. He also showed claims that I was legally under his care. He lost the hand he was playing and me as well. With the War of Words continuing around us, he could do nothing but watch when the man told two of his men to gather my belongings. I was held captive on the ship. That was the last I ever saw of my blessed homeland.
It turned out the captain was a spy from Whitebridge. He had been hired to find out what was really going on in Shara. They questioned me constantly, and I refused to say anymore than what they already knew. I was nine when I was held captive. By the time they decided to let me live as a normal person, I was ten. I told them that I missed my parents and my boyfriend. They laughed and the next thing I knew I was thrown into the latest fashion of the city and working at the tavern they owned.
Being a serving girl opened my eyes wide. I saw things that Jacob had promised to never let me hear of. I did things that made my outings with Gerald look innocent. One day, an Aes Sedai had stopped by the tavern with her warder. I wasnt afraid they would find me out since the men on the ship had scrubbed my markings off my face. I actually had hoped they would find me. My wish had come true that day. I knew very well how to channel. I had had a tutor at the palace. I would use it to do simple chores around the tavern. All of the other girls knew about it, since we were always together, but none of them had ever told anyone. Especially the men, who hadnt known what it meant to be Ayyad. Anyway, I remember walking up to ask the couple if they would like anything to eat or drink. The Aes Sedai, who had looked rather tired before, looked at me fully re-energized. Her Warder asked for their drinks, but he looked even a little strange. When I went into the kitchens, one of the other girls explained to me who they were. She said that Aes Sedai could tell when a girl could do what I could do. I tried to tell her it was channeling, but instead I got five of my best friends screaming and jumping up and down for me. The manager, the captain was rarely ever around so he gave the tavern over to Gaily to manage while he was gone, came in the back to see what was happening. I had opened my mouth to tell him, but I was soon cut off by my friends saying that they were okay and nothing had happened. I had always thought of Gaily as a friend and turned on my friends to scold them for lying. Instead I got the reason for their excitement. That was when I learned that I could become an Aes Sedai. That was also when I learned that very few people ran from the White Tower now days. I was supposed to act dumb and not say anything about it, for fear I would get in trouble. When I brought the drinks back out the Aes Sedai asked me if I was busy. Glancing back at the kitchens, I determined I had lots of time. It would be hours until the dinner rush. Smiling, I said no and asked if there was something wrong. She invited me to sit and asked my name. I told her and she introduced herself as Serenity Sedai and her Warder as Kris. I nodded and got the formalities out of the way. It turned out that she wanted me to come with her to the Tower where I would learn to use the power inside of me. I was thrilled.
She assumed I did not know what I had and I said nothing differently. I had already lost my Sharan accent and culture, so I thought there would be no way to trace my past. Gathering my things, collecting my pay from Gaily, and saying good-bye to the girls, I left with my two saviors. I entered into the enrollment book as "a wilder who didnt know she was doing it" novice.
Life had been wonderful there. I discovered a room full of books and soon named it the Funny Book Room. I also made new friends and learned the way that they taught weaves in this land. The culture was going to be difficult, but I was having fun for once in my life, and I didnt want to leave.
On my 16th birthday, a message arrived for me. My mother had died because of the War of Words and my sister was going to take over. They wanted me to come for the ceremony since they had found that I had entered the Tower and was now free from the captain. Late one night I was whisked away through a gateway and to my homeland. I stayed there for a month. There I had difficulties explaining that I wanted to stay where I was. Jacob, after failing once already, tried to send a bodyguard with me. The funny thing is that the bodyguard had turned out to be my ex-boyfriend. We soon caught up on our relationship on the ship ride back.
Once we reached the tower, I finally got the point across to Gerald that he could not stay, and he left to go back home. I returned to my daily duties as a novice. I had a lot of things to catch up with to be raised to accepted. I couldnt wait for that day to come.
And the saga continues
